Mini Sport Wedged and Nitrocarburised Crankshafts for 1275cc Mini Engines

Cranshaft Wedging - This is a lightening process which removes a wedge shaped piece of material from each crank web to reduce the overall mass and also to increase the counterweight mass, allowing the engine to rev faster and smoother.

Nitrocarburising - is a variant of Nitriding, but the Nitrocarburising cycle times are generally shorter involving enrichment of the surface with both nitrogen and carbon to provide a hard wear-resistant surface on engine components.

Mini Sport Quality - Each crankshaft is carfully crack tested to make sure the product is perfect before starting the long process.  We start by precision cutting each web of the crank into the ultimate wedge shape then process the Nitrocarburising.  Once these two process have been completed each journal is precision ground then polished to the exact specifications and surface finish required by to be passed by the Mini Sport technitions.   All seal diameters and flywheel taper mounting surfaces are checked, measured and poilshed for perfect fitment.   Each oil gallery is de-burred and thoroughly cleaned, then finally dynamically balanced to ensure smooth and efficient engine running.  Assured quality by Mini Sport.
